Passionate. Hard-working Industrious. Talented. That’s how Carl’s friends and clients would describe him. In his 30 years in business, Carl has won a trophy case full of awards. And he’s delivered amazing results for his clients including Cub Cadet, Philips Medical, Sterling Truck, Progressive Insurance, Hitachi Medical and many, many others.
Before founding Design Studio in 1979, Carl taught photography at the prestigious Rochester Institute of Technology, where he helped a generation of aspiring photographers develop their craft.
Carl is heavily involved in the Cleveland advertising community and a vocal advocate for its advancement.

A veteran of the New York advertising scene, Jerry spent 11 years in Manhattan, working for clients like Macys, Bloomingdales, Lord & Taylor and Trish McEvoy. In 1998, Jerry decided to return to his hometown of Cleveland and in 2004 joined Design Photography. Jerry brings his creative vision and technical Photoshop skills together to produce imaginative photography solutions. Some of Jerry’s clients have included American Greetings, Sterling Jewelers, MTD Power Equipment and La-Z-Boy.

John is Studio Manager for Design. His extensive experience, unlimited energy, and organizational abilities ensure the successful completion of complex location and studio projects. A graduate of Ohio University, John has been with Design Photography since 1991. John also doubles as a staff photographer an has produced incredible work for clients such as MTD, Cub Cadet, Cequent, Progressive Plastics, Sherwin Williams and others.

Mike Wilkes is a Cleveland-based photographer with 23 years of experience in the commercial photography field. With a unique ability to make any subject comfortable in front of the camera, Mike is a preeminent "personality" photographer with and extensive background in annual reports and medical photography.
A recipient of numerous industry awards, Mike has produced national advertising images for a wide range of clients, including Goodyear, Kelly Tire, Moen, Sealy, The Cleveland Clinic, University Hospitals, The Cleveland Foundation and many others.

A graduate of the Savannah College of Art & Design, Todd Johnson is Design Photography’s “computer guy.” Todd was instrumental in helping our company make a smooth transition to the digital age. And today he is the manager of our Digital Services division. Todd is a “go to” guy who our staff and clients can count always count on.

John is widely regarded as one of the top retouchers in the industry. Before joining Design Photography in 2007, John was a freelance retoucher and photographer in Erie, Pennsylvania. And, here in Cleveland, he taught Photoshop on the college level. John brings over a decade of experience to Design Photography and is a great asset to our company and our clients.

Cynthia is project coordinator for Design Photography. With nearly a decade’s worth of experience in the advertising and photography business, she knows how to pull a job together. Her duties at Design include everything from obtaining talent, transportation and police permits to organizing models, wardrobe and props.
